FemBridge Appoints Rachel Sheehan, Director of Women’s and Newborn Services at Universal Health Services, as Advisor to Propel Maternal Care Initiatives.


December 5, 2023 – FemBridge, a groundbreaking female-owned organization, is dedicated to revolutionizing maternal care and addressing long standing gaps in women's healthcare. With a commitment to providing a seamless, comprehensive solution, FemBridge ensures complete care for women at every stage of their maternal journey, from IVF to prenatal and postpartum care. Focused on addressing Social Determinants of Health, enhancing care access, and improving maternal behavioral health, FemBridge aims to make a significant and enduring impact on women and families globally.


In a pivotal step towards this mission, FemBridge is excited to announce the appointment of Rachel Sheehan as an Advisor. Rachel Sheehan, currently serving as the Director of Women’s and Newborn Services for Universal Health Services (UHS) in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, brings extensive expertise in maternal healthcare. Leading teams across 20 hospitals in six states and the District of Columbia, Rachel oversees care for over 30,000 birthing families. Her responsibilities include developing clinical, quality, and operational agendas, contributing to the successful reduction of maternal mortality during hospital admissions from 7.6 to 4.3 per 100,000 births.


With over 30 years of healthcare experience, Rachel has held various roles such as staff nurse, charge nurse, educator, and clinical informaticist for women’s and children’s services. Her expertise extends to leadership roles in population health, data analytics, and leadership development. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of New Rochelle and a Master of Science in Nursing focused on Education from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. She has participated in prestigious fellowships, including the Helene Fuld Fellowship and the Johnson and Johnson Sigma Theta Tau Maternal Child Leadership Academy, and received the esteemed 2022 March of Dimes Excellence in Perinatal Leadership award.
